Joining the Bangkit program was something crazy for me the first time, because it has an incredibly fast-paced learning environment. It was hard for me to maximize my learning experience at first, but in that situation I found a game-changing mindset: adaptability. The Bangkit program helped me learn about this through its ILT sessions.
Adaptability is the ability to stay flexible and efficient, and to apply that flexibility in every situation. In other words, with this skill I can survive whatever comes my way (hopefully 😎).
Here are the 5 ways of adaptability I practiced during the program.
1. Ways of Interacting
In the Bangkit program, I learned that effective interaction involves both listening and contributing. I started asking more questions, seeking clarification, and providing input in group discussions, even when I felt unsure. By actively participating and collaborating with peers and mentors, I became more comfortable sharing ideas and learning from others.
2. Ways of Achieving
Following this program, I set goals, but many things turned out to be difficult to achieve. Learning to adapt my expectations was just as important, so I could stay resilient and keep going. It also helped to remember why I started this in the first place — that became my main foundation.
3. Ways of Learning
With a curriculum that demands a fast learning pace, it’s very difficult to get maximum results without adapting. I had to be more active in every opportunity, especially in hard-skill ILT sessions — being proactive and accepting feedback helped me master the material much better.
4. Ways of Working
The Bangkit schedule is very tight, so I had to adjust my activities so they wouldn’t interfere with the learning process. That wasn’t easy, especially since everyone’s situation is different — some of us were also working or involved in organizational activities. This pushed me to become a lot more aware of how I spend my time.
5. Ways of Thinking
Last but not least: the way of thinking. As someone who always wants to grow, I had to hold onto a growth mindset so I wouldn’t feel weighed down while studying. When I hit something difficult, I tried to see it not as a wall, but as a challenge to develop.
